I took my German friend to Greenmarket Square, and he was impressed. There is, as usual, a wide variety of goods for sale, including Cape Town and SA T-shirts, stunning beadwork, beautiful paintings, exquisitely carved / painted ostrich egg shells, carefully crafted woodwork, and some magnificent framed pieces.. The thing most people—visitors and locals alike—love about Greenmarket Square is that it's just authentically Cape Town. It's loud, colourful, and at times almost dizzying with activity. Street musicians jostle for space alongside traders, in the shadow of gorgeous old colonial buildings where the history is etched into the very walls.
