Snorkeling Pink Beaches in Komodo National Park, Indonesia Jana Meerman

Pantai Merah or simply, the pink beach Komodo Island, is one of seven pink sand beaches across the world. What makes the sand appear pink under the sun are microscopic residents, organisms called Foraminifera. They produce a red pigment on the coral reefs and leave small red particles behind that blend with the white sand, forming a soft pink.. The only way to get to Pink Beach on Padar Island is by boat. One of the most adventurous ways for backpackers to visit Komodo National Park is by taking one of Wanua Adventures' cruises from Lombok to Flores (this takes four days and three nights).. Lombok is another excellent island in Indonesia worth exploring often seen as the quieter alternative to Bali.
